Car repairs always seem to come at the time when we can least afford it. If something goes wrong with your vehicle and it is not covered by a warranty then you can spend anything from a few pounds up to thousands of pounds dependent of what the problem is.

Unfortunately some garages take advantage of the fact that people do not really know what they require on the vehicle and therefore quote for extra work or try to upsell the parts they are fitting.

It is vital that you try and find out a bit about the problem yourself first and look up and information they give you to see if you think it is accurate. You could also take the vehicle to a few different garages to get quotations for the work, because as I found recently, a set of brake pads at one garage was going to cost me £40 more than at another.
